Heard of Roomba - the iRobot (http://iRobot.com)? We just bought it a couple of days back and fell in love with it right away. We bought the Roomba 570 and we could have never imagined the amount of dust and dirt it picked up in minutes....We being such cleanliness freaks had been vaccuming and wet-mopping the house almost twice week (sometimes even thrice) since we bought our house BUT still the Roomba picked up so much dirt that it was unbelievable.
It is such a sweet thing - it has made our life so easy! Dont want to call it a MAID-like thing - 'coz it is such a special thing:-) The good thing is that you can schedule it to run whenever you want and when it is tired (low on charge), it goes and sets itself on its docking station and gets re-charged. It can go upto 4 rooms when you just leave it....Oops - seems like I am marketing for Roomba!
Do not know how long it will last - but we are happy for now. Just waiting to find a good name for our Roomba - hehe!

also, worth mentioning are the 'lighthouse' and the 'wall' features the 570 comes with along with the wireless remote center and ofcourse the time scheduler.

hey gaurav - hamaara jo rob(bie)ot hai na - woh aajkal kitchen mein kaam karte karte itna thak jaata hai ki 'jhaadu-pocha' maarne ki himmat nahi rehti...guess it happens with age..;-)hehe...
